Terms and Conditions

1. About these terms

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website weddingsigns.co.nz (the "site") and the purchase of custom-printed wedding signage and related goods ("products") from Wedding Signs NZ.

Wedding Signs NZ is operated by Katherine Holland, a sole trader trading as Katherine Holland Design, of 1614 State Highway 30, Horohoro, New Zealand ("we", "us", "our").

By placing an order you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not place an order.

2. Pricing and GST

All prices on the site are in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and include GST where GST applies. Shipping is charged separately and shown at checkout before you confirm your order.

We may change prices at any time without notice. Price changes do not affect orders we have already accepted.

3. Placing an order

3.1 Order acceptance

Selecting a product and completing checkout is an offer to buy. We accept your offer when we send you an order-confirmation email after your payment has been processed. Until then, no contract exists between us.

We may decline to accept an order — for example, if a product is unavailable, if pricing was displayed incorrectly, if we cannot verify the payment, or if the personalisation you have submitted breaches clause 4. If we decline, we will refund any payment you have made for that order in full.

3.2 Live preview is your proof

The on-screen preview generated as you customise a sign is your final design proof. We do not send a separate proof for sign-off before printing. It is your responsibility to check the spelling of names, dates, venue, courses, drinks, and any other text you have entered before clicking "Add to cart" and completing payment.

Once an order is paid, we will print exactly what is shown in the on-screen preview. We will not contact you to confirm spelling or design choices.

4. Customisation content — your responsibility

You are responsible for the content you supply for personalisation, including names, dates, venue, menu items, drinks lists, and guest lists. By submitting that content you confirm that:

  • you have the authority to use the names and details of any other person you list (for example, your partner, family members, wedding-party members, or guests);
  • the content is not offensive, defamatory, obscene, threatening, harassing, or otherwise unlawful; and
  • the content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights.

We may decline to print an order, and cancel it for a full refund, if we consider the supplied content breaches this clause. We are not obliged to review or moderate content before accepting an order.

5. Payment

Payment is taken in full at checkout. We accept the payment methods offered by Stripe at checkout (currently major credit and debit cards). Card details are handled directly by Stripe; we do not see or store full card numbers.

If a payment is later reversed (chargeback, fraud claim, or otherwise), the corresponding order may be cancelled or held until the reversal is resolved.

6. Production and turnaround

Each sign is printed to order based on the personalisation you submit. We aim to print and dispatch standard orders within 5–10 working days of payment confirmation. Larger orders, sets, or seating plans with extensive guest lists may take longer; we will tell you if we expect a delay.

Production times are estimates only and are not guarantees. We strongly recommend ordering well in advance of your wedding date. We are not liable for production delays caused by events outside our reasonable control (see clause 13).

7. Shipping and delivery

7.1 Where we ship

We currently ship within New Zealand only. International shipping is available by arrangement — contact us at hello@weddingsigns.co.nz before placing an order.

7.2 Couriers and tracking

Orders are dispatched by track-and-trace courier through our courier integration partner (GoSweetSpot). You will receive a dispatch email with a tracking number when your parcel leaves our production team.

7.3 Delivery times

Once dispatched, urban courier delivery within New Zealand is typically 1–3 working days; rural delivery may take longer. These are courier estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you when the courier delivers, or attempts to deliver, to the address you provided.

7.4 Wrong address

Please double-check your delivery address at checkout. If you give us a wrong or incomplete address, any cost of re-delivery is payable by you. Address changes after dispatch are at the courier's discretion and we cannot guarantee them.

7.5 Lost or damaged in transit

If your parcel does not arrive within a reasonable period of dispatch, or arrives damaged, contact us as soon as possible and within 7 days of the expected delivery date. We will work with the courier to locate or replace the parcel.

8. Cancellation, changes, and refunds

8.1 Custom-made goods

Every product on this site is made to order and personalised to you. Because of this:

  • we cannot accept change-of-mind cancellations, returns, or refunds once an order has been paid; and
  • we cannot resell or repurpose any sign once it has been printed with your details.

If you contact us before your order has been sent into production we will try to accommodate corrections or cancellations as a courtesy, but we are under no obligation to do so once an order has been paid.

8.2 Mistakes you made in the preview

We print exactly what was shown in the on-screen preview at the time you confirmed payment. Spelling mistakes, wrong dates, wrong names, wrong fonts, or wrong colour choices are not faults under these Terms or the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, and a reprint will be at full cost.

8.3 Our mistakes

If we print or ship a sign that differs from the on-screen preview you confirmed, we will reprint and ship a replacement at no cost to you. Notify us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue.

9. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993

Where you acquire goods from us as a consumer (i.e. for personal use and not in trade), the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 implies into our contract guarantees that the goods will be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, match their description, and be delivered within a reasonable time. We cannot contract out of these guarantees.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or other non-excludable consumer-protection law.

Where you acquire goods from us in trade (for example, as a wedding planner buying on behalf of a client) and both parties are in trade, the parties agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and sections 9, 12A, 13, and 14(1) of the Fair Trading Act 1986 do not apply.

10. Faulty or damaged goods

If a product arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from what you ordered, please email hello@weddingsigns.co.nz within 7 days of delivery with photos clearly showing the issue and the original packaging. We will assess and, where the claim is accepted, choose (acting reasonably) between:

  • reprinting and reshipping the affected sign at no cost; or
  • refunding the price paid for the affected sign.

This clause does not limit any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

11. Colour and material variations

Each sign is hand-finished and there may be small variations between batches in colour, finish, and texture. Colours shown on a screen are also affected by your monitor and lighting. Minor variation of this kind is not a fault.

12. Intellectual property

We own, or have a licence to use, all design files, templates, fonts, illustrations, photography, and software used to produce the products and operate the site (together "our IP").

When we deliver a finished sign to you, you receive ownership of the physical sign and a personal, non-transferable licence to use the design as printed for the event and personal-keepsake purposes for which it was made. You do not acquire ownership of any underlying design file, template, font, or our IP.

You must not reproduce, resell, or commercially exploit our designs or any image of them without our prior written consent.

13. Force majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms to the extent caused by events outside our reasonable control, including (but not limited to) natural disasters, severe weather, fire, pandemic, government action, courier industrial action, supplier failure, or interruption of utilities or telecommunications. If such an event materially affects your order, we will contact you to discuss options including extension of the production time or a refund of un-printed orders.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, and except for any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986, or other non-excludable consumer protection law:

  • our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for that order; and
  • we are not liable for any indirect, special, or consequential loss — including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of enjoyment, or any cost of replacing a sign at short notice — even if we were advised of the possibility of that loss.

15. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue. If we cannot reach an agreement, you may be able to refer a consumer dispute to the Disputes Tribunal of New Zealand.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version applicable to your order is the version on the site at the time you confirmed payment. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms for future orders.
